So I love journaling but I have trouble coming up with what to write sometimes. It gets boring writing the day-to-day minutiae of my life. Diaries and journals don’t have to record every second of your life but are good for reflections, rants, stories about your life, etc. So here are some links to journaling prompts that have helped me out!
- NYT Over 1,000 Writing Prompts for Students
- r/journalingisart 1,000 Prompts
- Odyssey Online 42 Daily Journal Prompts
- Quo Vadis Daily Journaling Prompts for April 2018

Thanks for these. I find myself in a similar situation, so it’s very timely!

Thanks for the resources. A few months ago I decided to prompt write daily. But soon enough life got in the way and I stopped. I have to say that I see the difference in my writing. It has definitely suffered. I plan to go back to daily prompt writing soon, though.
Here on WordPress, it seems like people decide to come up with their own prompts more and more often (in an attempt to attract like-minded people to join their club). It can be quite fun and illuminating, seeing different people respond so differently to the same word/ phrase.

I’m glad you liked the links! I don’t write in my journal as much as I’d like but I try to write every two or three days. And I write other things every day.
I noticed that bloggers were making up their own prompts! Do you have any suggestions for specific blogger’s prompts I should try?

https://carrotranch.com/ There are weekly prompts for 99 word flash fiction. The community is growing rapidly and people are having a good time writing and reviewing stuff.
I like @DailyPrompt on Twitter for my own work.
